Freemusicdownloadwebsites.com has teamed up with Freemoviedownloadsites.net to offer, surprisingly free music downloads and free movie downloads. The idea is that the two websites will become a huge resource of free downloads.
The websites have become popular among students because they offer free legal music downloads. Both websites have links to other websites from which you can get free music downloads.
So, what’s the deal? Will these website set the world on fire? It’s unlikely. We checked out both of the websites and they don’t seem to add a whole lot more than what you can get by firing up Limewire or uTorrent.
We like the premise and the conviction with which these guys claim to offer a great product, but ultimately it falls flat on its feet. You may as well stick to Ares. Has anybody checked out these websites for free music downloads? Any thoughts on them?
Music downloads are a fact of life now, and there is little that record labels can do to counter this. Despite record labels trying to implement scare tactics on the general public, there are those in the music industry who think that we should be able to download music without having to live in fear.
Veteran music producer Don Was is one such person. As he sees it, the music industry targeting music fans who illegally download songs using filesharing software like Ares is a waste of billions of dollars.
The money spent cracking down on downloaders could be used to, well, make better music and promote vitality in the music scene, says Don.
For those not familiar with Don Was, he has worked with everyone from Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and B B King, to Willie Nelson, Elton John and Ringo Starr.
Record labels have so far sued more than 26,000 people for illegal downloads, with most cases settled outside of court.
For someone like Don Was to step up and say we should be allowed to download music for free holds some weight behind it.
At 67 years old, Cliff Richard is no spring chicken, but the old-timer is apparently down with the kids and is set to follow Radiohead’s lead by hopping on the digital-download bandwagon.
Slated for release November 12, Cliff Richard’s new album will be available for to download from lovecliffrichard.com, but how popular the album is will determine how much it costs. The download is available for pre-ordering now, and it could cost anything between £3.99 and £7.99 depending on how many copies are ordered.
Once Cliff decides how much to sell his album for, fans will be able to download it straight to their computers and onto their MP3 players of choice. Although the album will also be available for non-downloading folk from regular record stores, the online price could end up being a lot cheaper.
“Who’d have thought I’d get a buzz from creative marketing? As artists we face a stark choice. We either keep one step ahead of the technology which is changing our industry so radically — or we throw up our hands and quit. Personally I’m not for quitting,” Cliff told the Telegraph newspaper in the UK.
Only time will tell if Cliff Richard has any Internet-savvy fans out there.
